Product Description

(paraphrased and adjusted from the description currently on the Kindle website)

Polo is the game of kings and princes.  Thomas Zagurt was born in Polo, Illinois, in 1918, and some people say he existed and some say he didn't.  A writer named Len King is looking for Thomas Zagurt and in the process he finds another writer, Sig Bender and his wife Pat, not from Polo, Illinois.  Sig trailed the Zagurt story until the trail went cold and then they gave up.  But Len does find Zagurt. He finds out through Larry.  So who's Larry?   Welcome to Polo, a humorous story for both players and spectators.

This book is based on the author's own experiences as a member of a family polo team, the Taylors, his family.  It is also based on his own experiences playing with the remarkable Ben Forney of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, whose lands have been given to the Lancaster Polo Club.  The author played during times on leave from Germany in 1967, 1968 and 1969.  His polo career ended with his parents divorced, when his father took his horses and left.  Oh, well.  He went back to sailing, his true love, but he relishes his polo times at both the Brandywine Polo Club in Toughkenamon, Pennsylvania, and his times in Lancaster.  The author, a horseman first, rode with Tattersall Weise when he was in Wiesbaden, Germany.  "The Taunus Mountains provided an unexplainable environment to ride with men and woman of many countries."

The cartoon used in Polo was created by the author in 1972 or so.
