English in Crisis; Do Something! evolved from my involvement in the industry of publications and documentation beginning in the mid-1970s.  As part of the Military/Industrial Complex serving as a freelance and contract technical writer, illustrator and editor, I became starkly aware of the poor grammar usage in our businesses, on our streets, in our schools, in our colleges and later on the Internet.  At the end of the 1990s, I finally sat down and wrote this primer from my own knowledge of the underpinnings of our language, based on the rules and regulations I learned under.  Of course, I had to "confirm" my information from a variety of sources, mostly from old primers from the 1940s and 1950s.  By the time we, as an English-speaking society, reached the 1960s, the teaching of grammar began to erode away, and we soon had students who were not graduating with a complete knowledge of their own language.  This book, a short primer, a good reference, and a fun read is offered as a way to "retro" the understanding of our language "forward" in a pleasant and easy manner.
